ATEX - ATmosphères EXplosibles

ATEX is the conventional name of regulation no. 94/9/CE of the European Union concerning equipment to be used in places where there is a high risk of explosion. The name derives from the words ATmosphères and EXplosibles.
In the states of the European Union, this law came into force on July 1, 2003 as a replacement of the old Cenelc regulations, and is more rigid than the international Factory Mutual provision.
It applies to all equipment and systems that must be used in places with a high risk of explosion.
